Erasmus and study abroad in Barcelona: your first 4 weeks of partying
Last updated: October 2026 · By the Teteo List team, Barcelona · 6 min read
Quick answer
In your first month in Barcelona, join two or three student WhatsApp groups in week 1, go to the big welcome parties in week 2, try a boat party or themed night in week 3, and settle into your favourite weekly club night in week 4. Student guestlists like Teteo List give you free or cheaper entry most nights of the week, so you can go out often without blowing your budget.
Before you arrive: three things to set up
- A Spanish or EU SIM with data, so WhatsApp works everywhere.
- Your original ID or passport for clubs (18+). Keep a copy at home.
- A guestlist contact. Save Teteo List on WhatsApp so you get the week’s parties from day one.
American students: “Erasmus parties” are simply international student nights. You’re welcome too, whatever your program.
Week 1: find your people
The first week decides your social life. Everyone is new and open to meeting people.
- Join your university’s international student association (for example ESN) and its welcome activities.
- Join two or three student WhatsApp communities. That’s where parties and plans are shared.
- Go to an easy first night: a bar meet-up or a weeknight student party.
- Say yes to every plan. You’ll be picky later.
Week 2: the big welcome parties
September-October and February-March are the welcome seasons. Clubs run special nights for new international students.
This is the week to try the big clubs. Start with a beachfront club at Port Olímpic and a local favourite like Otto Zutz. Our club guide helps you choose.
Tip: go with the group you met in week 1. Mixed groups get in faster.
Week 3: try something different
Now you know the basics. Mix it up:
- A boat party if the season is on (roughly May-early October).
- A themed night: Halloween in October, carnival in February.
- A day trip and night out in Sitges.
Week 4: build your routine
By now you’ll have a favourite night and a favourite club. Most students settle into a routine: one or two weeknights plus one weekend night.
Follow the Teteo List events calendar to see what’s on each night of the week.
